A Thanksgiving Prayer Request 11.24.09

I hadn’t planned to post tonight, but a dear friend here at the lake asked if I would request your prayers for a close friend of hers, and I was more than glad to do that.

If you have followed my blog on Mackinac Island and here at the lake, and if you have read the comments readers leave, you are probably familiar with my friend Samille’s name.  She has been a supporter of these blogs since day one.  Samille’s friend Susan, who lives in Albany, went into the hospital in Albany last week for hip replacement surgery.  She had already had the other hip replaced earlier in the year and recovered quickly.  Susan was so excited that this second surgery would get her back on track to be healthy and pain free – able to enjoy her granddaughter again.  But this time, while she was in the recovery room, Susan suffered a stroke.  She is now in the ICU unit, unable to move one side and unable to speak.  She does understand what people are saying to her – she just can’t respond.

As we all get ready to celebrate the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, please remember Susan and her family in your prayers.  We all know how much each of us has to be thankful for, and we all know how quickly our lives can change.  God is in the business of working miracles, so let’s all pray for one for Susan.

If you’d like to send Susan a card, I will be glad to give you her home address.  Members of her family will make sure she receives it .  Samille told me that Susan followed the Mackinac Island blog all summer, so some of your names (if you ever sent comments) will be familiar to her.  But that doesn’t matter – just hearing that she has your prayers will mean the world to her and her family.  You can email me at for her home address.

See you tomorrow.  God bless.

  1. Miracles happen every day Susan and I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Get well soon!
