I promise a longer post for Tuesday, but it’s been a busy weekend with Jason and Blair here, and this old girl is tired tonight.
Tomorrow I’ll tell you all about our weekend, but for now I just want to show you what showed up on our doorstep on Saturday morning. Maddie and Bear started going crazy barking at the front door while I was fixing breakfast. Ted opened the door, and there sat this beautiful orange kitty, meowing like she had lost her last friend.
We had to put Maddie on her leash to even let her get close to kitty (she tends to want to eat cats), who Jason and Blair promptly named Syd and started making plans to take home (they already have one cat – Skiddums). Their dog, Bayla, is used to cats and just ignored Syd, and Bear and the kitty became good buds almost immediately.
We all knew this cat had to belong to somebody. He was so friendly, purred constantly, climbed in the bed with Jason and Blair, and even won Maddie over. Ted finally took him outside on the carport and gave him a bowl of half-and-half. Syd lapped it up and promptly ran up the street across from our house. We heard later that he belongs to some new folks up that street and had escaped out an open door. We hope he comes back to visit soon!
If you have time today, hop over and read the Mackinac Island weekly update at http://bree1972.wordpress.com. I think you’ll enjoy looking at the entries for the Lilac Festival Poster Competition, and there are some interesting photos there too of the island volunteer fire department on drills.
See you tomorrow!
